Our main character, Victor, is a loveable little penguin that is cold. When we first meet Victor his Mummy has gone away and he does not know when she will be back. Victory is staying with his daddy and feeling a little sad and cold about Mummy being gone. Daddy penguin attempts help Victor learn how to warm up. He gets Victor up and moving and then leaves to find Victor something to eat. While his daddy and Mummy are gone, Victor meets up with some friends that try to help him warm up by doing various things. Nothing works so Victor ends up in tears. Just then his parents return and everyone is happy again.

The adorable illustrations combine with the cute storyline bring Victor and his friends to life for the reader. Interactive activities built into the story are just the right mix to keep the young energetic readers attention from the beginning of the story to the end. Simple navigation is present (tapping and dragging) so the young readers should be able to be independent while using the app.

Something that I would like Slim Cricket to consider adding in the future is when the story is read to the listener, have the text be scanned and highlighted. That will help reinforce the building blocks of early literacy.

Is This App Appropriate For Students with Special Needs
I think it is very appropriate for students with special needs. This book can be used to reinforce numerous literacy skills such as; concepts of print, vocabulary, comprehension, sequencing, and inferencing. Also with all of the interactive activities built into the app it would be a great way to work on motor skills.
