Count to 100 is a simple app for the early mathematician. The lay out is a 100 chart that is black and white with no extra visual stimulus to distract the user. Users are expected to count to 100 in the manner that was set in the settings mode. The choices are 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, or 25s. Counting is accomplished by touching the appropriate numbers on the 100 chart. When the task is accomplished successfully, bees fly across the screen to celebrate.  To change how the user is expected to count, someone must tap the home button two times. In settings, there are also a number of other customizable features such as:
  • How high to count to
  • How the user counts
  • If the numbers are always displayed on the buttons or if they only appear after the button is tapped.
  • If the user is in the normal mode or a random tap anywhere mode.

Description

The iTunes description of Count to 100 is as follows:
Help take your child's counting skills to the next level with Count To 100! a counting app with something every kid loves to press — elevator buttons!
We've transformed the 100 chart, used in schools to help develop number sense and recognition, into an interactive version to help motivate and delight your child with a friendly voice, uplifting music, and those irresistible buttons that light up.
The numbers are positioned in lines of 10s to give your child an understanding of how numbers relate to each other and how to simplify maths problems. This helps your child to count in sequence from left to right, which may also help children with visual perception and motor planning challenges.
Mastering the number line and understanding the fluency of numbers will contribute to your child's success in maths-related life skills such as counting money, telling time, and reading a thermometer.

Features
Display buttons in increments of 10 to breakdown learning goals into smaller steps. And for children who are ready to move on, there are options for skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s and 25s.
There is a TAP ANY mode for exploring the numbers in any order. This mode can be used as a visual tool to illustrate maths concepts such as more or less than, before or after, between, and addition and subtraction.
You can choose to turn the music, counting voice, and even the button labels on or off to suit your needs.
DESIGNED WITH KIDS IN MIND
Count To 100! Launches directly into the counting board — no start up screen or settings to play around with. The home and refresh buttons require two taps (one to activate and one to trigger) to prevent accidental presses from exiting the board. And there are no web links or in-app purchases that take you away from the app. Just launch and start counting!

What I Like About This App
  • Simple layout that does not contain any other visual or auditory distractions
  • Great to make learning to count visual for the learners that need it.
  • Customizable
  • Built in safety features that will not accidently allow users to enter the settings mode or to refresh the app

What I Would Like To See Added In Future Updates
  • Some built in math problems that require the user to use the 100 chart to solve them
  • Options to count by 3s, 4s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 11s, 12s so learners can practice multiplication facts
  • A way to increase the size of the numbered buttons. They are rather small and learners with motor issues might have difficulty pressing just one button.

Is This App Appropriate For Students with Special Needs
Most resource room teachers use 100 charts to teach early mathematicians so this app would be highly beneficial to students with special needs. It would help make learning counting patterns and early addition and subtraction skills visual. Count to 100 would also help students with special needs work on working left to right across a page and one to one correspondence. Parents could have this app at home for their child to us while doing homework to support the teaching methods being used at school. This is a must have app
for students with special needs to move their learning into the 21st century.
