Please note that I am not a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, I’m a Mom of 2 special needs boys.  One with mild speech problems, (pronunciations, etc.) and the other is non-verbal.

I have to say I was a little apprehensive when I initially downloaded this app in case it would be too difficult for us to use or too advanced or I just would not be able to get started with it (it has happened ).

What can I say, it is absolutely fantastic, it is so simple to get started with, just click and you are ready to go.

Chose the box (category) you want to open, and off you go - the only box that does not already have prepared photos (for obvious reasons) is the Family box.

The quality of the pictures are amazing, the app is very customizable,

You can add and delete pictures from your own library,
Add new boxes,
There is the choice of a male or female voice,
Prompts and custom prompts on and off

And this is really clever - I was busy as a bee adding some pictures in the /f/ sounds box when I noticed a pic in my library I needed to add but it would have fallen into the /d/ sounds box, but I continued on and to my delight, it automatically filed the picture away in the correct box.

And when we were in full flight using the app and the small boy persisted in making changes and trying to delete pictures I was able to turn on the parental lock.

There are quick links to enable the user to contact the developer via email, Facebook and twitter.

This is a great app, it is so well thought out, the developer has really thought of everything needed.  I would have to give it 5 out 5.  My boys both agree and both enjoy using it.  I would definitely recommend it to anyone working with a special needs child or adult and I can’t wait to show it to our Speech and Language Therapist.

  1. If this is downloaded for my child 5 and I have a friend with a nonverbal 2 yo. Do I need to buy it 2 times or can I just download it to her iPhone or Pad for her due to financial constraints?

  2. Great review! I appreciate the honesty!! We recently downloaded the app and I look forward to using it with my 5 year old, developmental global delays and Selective Mutism.
