Like many other iOS users my devices are over flowing with baking and cooking apps. Yet when I was asked to review iMake Lollipops I knew instantly that it would be a big hit with my own children. It brought out the big child in me as well.
Having completed the swirl lollipop I decided to try the round one as well. Here we encounter a more detailed experience. The user is asked to add the ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix them all up. You are given a choice of 15 different flavours to choose from including cherry, banana and watermelon. Next you have to place the mix into moulds and bake them. A timer is used for baking which is a great asset for children with special needs who need visual timers to understand waiting times. The user is then able to decorate the lollipop using a variety of toppings including eyes, lips and even spiders.
Once the user has completed the lollipop they can 'eat' it. If your child is like mine and likes to repeatedly do the same task over and over, then there is a refresh button at the top right hand corner of the page where they can keep recycling he same image over and over again. The developer has also included the option of emailing, and facebooking the completed image or taking a photo for your camera roll.
iMake Lollipops is a perfect addition to any iTunes library. As a resource for special needs it is one that will encourage imagination, creativity and fine motor. Any child who loves to bake or decorate will have hours of fun with this app.
