Ice Age Movie Storybook Collection Review

Ice Age Movie Storybook Collection is the latest offering from iStoryTime and Zukka in Partnership With Fox Consumer Products. This app was released to help celebrate the release of Ice Age: Continental Drift In Theatres worldwide. It includes the very first Ice Age Movie storybook at the standard price and the other three are available as in-app purchases. It is available for both iPhone and iPad. It requires iOS5 or later to run the app.

Ice Age Movie Storybook brings together our favourite onscreen characters, Manny the woolly mammoth, Sid the sloth and Diego the saber-tooth tiger.

The thing I love the most about iStorytime apps is that they bring the feeling of the big screen to life in your own living room . The illustrations are overwhelming and the reader becomes immersed in the story .

In the first book, Ice Age (which is included in the purchase price) we see the story of Manny who encounters Sid as he is migrating south . Sid and Manny form an unlikely bond and together they save a baby from it's mother's dying arms. They form a pact to return the baby to it's family and in doing so they encounter Diego, who at first is seen as a threat but later becomes their protector.

We encounter thought provoking moments in the story where by the bonds of friendship and loyalty are put to the test. We see Manny risking his own life to save the life of Diego and later on we see Diego also risking his life to try and save his friends. The bond which is formed amongst the three friends is a great life lesson for children as it shows that you can make friends anywhere. You don't have to be from the same background or culture to form a close bond with someone , and once you have that kind of friendship you look out for each other no matter what.

Interspersed, of course, are many moments of pure hilarity provided primarily by Sid.

At the top of each page of the storybook is a little drop down menu where you  by you can scroll easily between sections of the book and choose a particular page at ease.

The developers have added the options of Read to me, Auto play and Read to myself to allow the reader a variety of ways to enjoy the app.

If you are a fan of the Ice Age movies then this app is a must by. My son has spent hours reading the stories over and over since I downloaded it for him. We did buy the in-app purchases and now have the entire collection. I have to say each storybook is incredible. It is hard to stop yourself from just buying one.

Ice Age: The Meltdown: Manny, Sid and Diego embark on another incredible adventure. The Ice Age is coming to an end, and the animals are delighting in a melting paradise that is their new world.  When disaster threatens, the sub-zero heroes embark on a mission across an ever-changing, increasingly dangerous landscape towards their salvation.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: The sub-zero heroes return, this time beneath the ice, discovering a world of dinosaurs. This incredible and immense underground environment provides a sharp contrast to the wintry environments of the first Ice Age story settings, and dwarfs even the vastness of the above-ground Ice Age.  It’s a land of danger, massive creatures, mammal-eating plants, a daredevil weasel, and a wily romantic foil for Scrat, named Scratte.

Ice Age: Continental Drift: Scrat's nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny and the herd encounter a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

If you would like to buy a copy if the app right now please do so by clicking on this link iTunes. It is priced at $0.99 and Ice Age 2 , 3 and 4 are available at the cost of $2.99 each from within the app .

  3. Great! My daughter likes to read and I was thinking about buying some nice books and comics for her. Her birthday is around the corner and I am planning to add shows by Andy Yeatman to the watch list. I am sure that she is going to like these shows a lot.
